Design & Designer

The SWING slip-on dress is a practical everyday design with side pockets. It has a wide, hand-pleated hem that’s easy to adjust to different lengths – make it mini, midi, or maxi, according to your personal preference. If you’re looking for a convenient, loose- cut, and easy-to-make garment, this dress is perfect for you.

For the TAUKO Magazine co-founder, Kaisa Rissanen, the sound of waves will always be the sound of summer. Kaisa spent her childhood holidays at her family’s cottage in central Finland, beside a small, beauti- ful lake. Her SWING dress design is inspired by long summer days playing by the water with her best friend, wearing pleated dresses on top of swimsuits.

Fit and size:

Choose your size based on your bust circumference. Add a recommended positive ease of 2.6–4.7"/7–12 cm. Pick the size that is the best match for your bust. Note: As this is a slip-on design, take care that your bust measurement doesn’t exceed the waist measurement of the finished dress.

Erica Fernandez is wearing checkered SWING in size 6. She is 64"/163 cm tall. Bayi Amoussou is wearing light blue SWiNG in size 3. She is 65"/164 cm tall.

Fabric recommendations:

Choose a light to medium weight fabric like linen, cotton, or denim. Choosing a fabric with more stability will bring structure and volume to the garment. The checkered sample dress is made from “Carolina” (100% linen, 5.9 oz/200 gsm) by Merchant & Mills. The blue sample is made from a vintage cotton/ polyester blend (4 oz/140 gsm) that used to be a bed linen.

Fabric requirements:

For sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)

Care Instructions

Caring for your fabrics is essential to maintain their appearance and longevity. Here are some essential fabric care tips to make your clothing last longer and look great.

First and foremost, always check the care label on your garments. While most fabrics benefit from similar care, certain items like wool may have specific instructions. For general care, wash your fabrics in cool or cold water. Hot water can degrade fibers and cause colors to fade.

Avoid using chlorine bleach or fabric softeners, as these can damage the fabric over time. Instead, choose a phosphate-free detergent. These gentle detergents clean effectively without harming your textiles.

When it comes to drying your clothes, it's best to tumble dry on a low setting. This helps prevent shrinking and unnecessary wear and tear. For the best results, dry similar colors together to avoid color transfer. If you want to maximize the longevity of your fabrics, consider line-drying your clothes. This method reduces the risk of damage from the dryer’s heat and can also save energy.

Ironing your fabrics? Always check the appropriate heat settings based on the type of fabric you are working with. Utilizing the right heat can help you avoid burns and preserve the integrity of your garments.

If you have any delicate items, laundering them in a mesh bag can provide extra protection during the wash cycle. Always be mindful of embellishments and finishes when caring for your fabrics.

Ultimately, proper fabric care ensures that your clothes continue to look fresh and new. By following these easy tips, you can enjoy your favorite garments for years to come.
