Swedish Stripes are a durable, and utilitarian heavy handloom cloth, woven in rural households. Bold simple colours were used to hand dye the stripe sequences, with farmers utilising strong natural dyes such as indigo, madder root \u0026amp; walnut husks, also known as the Peasant Palette. The tightly woven cloth became popular worldwide, due to its dense weave and was primarily used to make mattress covers \u0026amp; bed pillows, able to prevent feathers and straw from poking through.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis fabric has been water washed, land and sun dried.
