Winter Sewing Challenge ideas!
Posted: Jan 13 2017
Here it is! Our first blog post of the year. We hope you all had a wonderful time with family and friends over the Holidays. This season always go by so fast! We’re already on our second week of January. By now you’re probably back to your routine. We certainly are! We’ve been getting new and beautiful fabrics this past couple of weeks, which always makes us very excited. Since it’s our first post after the New Year’s and we have all these lovely and new fabrics in store, we decided to bring you a few sewing projects. One of my New Year’s resolution was to make time for one of my favourite hobbies, sewing. That’s why I’ve put myself a challenge for the year, a sewing challenge!
Here are a few of the projects I’ve found that I’m really excited to try out. You don’t have to do the challenge to enjoy these lovely crafts with me. This is all about making time for the activities we enjoy.
Most of these are perfect for the winter, so my kids and I are set for this chilly season!
Pillow Bed by Dabbles and Babbles
I fell in love with this one immediately because it merges two things I thoroughly enjoy: sewing and reading. With the colder days here, a cup of coffee and a cosy pillow to sink in sounds about perfect. So here’s what looks like the perfect fix for a lazy Sunday evening.
Winter Shirt Dress by Elle Apparel
When I sew I usually make crafts for the home, so I decided to add to this year’s challenge something cute that I could wear during the winter time. I really like this one because you can play with prints and even repurpose an old shirt that you no longer use and make it into a beautiful new garment!
Child’s Reversible Fat Quarter Apron by Aesthetic Nest
During the winter my family and I spend much more time inside the house. We love to enjoy the beauty of nature but the beginning of the year is always a bit too cold for us. That’s why I loved this project so much. I can already imagine my little ones set and ready to help me bake some delicious cookies or even make dinner this winter! We’re always happy to have yummy comfort food to end the day. Food and family quality time, can’t ask for more.
Long Cardigan by So Sew Easy
The winter is the time for sweaters to come out of the closet. A simple, but nice looking garment can keep you warm while looking nice. To be honest, I feel like I have never enough! So this time I’m making my own. I especially like the elegant look of this one, which makes it perfect for almost any occasion.
Pajama Pants by DIY Crush
And lastly another winter must have! We keep saying how beautiful the new fabrics that we got in store will look made into pyjamas, so here’s a pj’s pants pattern for all of you that want to cosy up this winter. The great thing about it is that is simple and you can make as many as you want, just using different fabrics. You’ll have one for each day of the week! You and your kids will be set for the entire winter season.
