DIY: Mannequin Cover

· · · Comments
Required:
Sewing Machine
Pins
Pen/Pencil
Scissors
Knit Fabric (Jersey/Interlock/French Terry)
I used --> Hamburger Liebe French Terry

Process:
1. Measure your mannequin and decide on fabric width and length. I cut mine 22" wide and the length 36". Two rectangles are required, one for front and one for the back of the mannequin.
2. Pins come in hand when securing the front and back to the mannequin.
3. After pinning the fabric on both sides begin to pin along the edges of the mannequin.
4. I find it helpful to trace along the edges of the mannequin as well before I remove the fabric to sew.
5. Remove the fabric.
6. Sew along the marked line, remove the pins as you go.
7. Trim bottom, and hem leaving room for drawstring to be threaded through. Sew up the side seams for reinforcement. I use a triple stretch stitch and elastic stitch when not using a serger to ensure seams do not break.
8. Hem neckline.
9. Thread drawstring through the bottom hem.
10. Cover mannequin and tighten drawstring.
